When Care Is the Honest Choice
The sitemap still matches the offer. Buyers can find the service. The look is tired, the CMS login is a mystery, or backups have not been tested. That is website maintenance: updates, backups, a named owner, and small fixes without a new architecture.
Security and speed can sit next to care. A harden-and-watch job is not a new brand. A compress-and-cut job is not a new sitemap. We will name those jobs instead of selling a rebuild you do not need.
When You Actually Need New Pages
The offer changed. The homepage cannot rank for the phrases buyers type. The enquiry path is a PDF. The site cannot be quoted by an AI answer because nothing is written as an answer. That is design work: map the pages, write them, build HTML that search can read.
Read the web design process if you need dates you can hold. Discover still comes first. A moodboard is not a sitemap.
Look Is a Weak Signal on Its Own
A site can look dated and still convert. A site can look new and still hide the offer. We judge the job: can a phone user find, trust, and enquire? If yes, care and a few page rewrites may be enough.
If the structure cannot hold SEO, AEO, and a tap, a visual refresh will not earn the next enquiry. We do not sell a theme swap as a redesign.
How We Decide on the First Call
Bring the URL. The free website audit names search, structure, conversion, and trust gaps on the page you paste. It is not a whole-site crawl and not a Lighthouse trophy. It is a way to stop guessing.
Then we say whether you need care, speed, security, a landing page, or a site. You should leave the call with a named job, not a bundle of everything.
