The Ad Already Did the Sorting

A paid search or social click is not a cold visit. The person chose a line, a price, or a date. Sending them to a homepage asks them to start again. Many will not.

That is why landing page design is different work from a full site. One offer, one proof set, one action. The page restates the ad in the first line so the visitor knows they are in the right place.

What Goes Wrong on a Homepage Landing

Homepages earn their keep for brand search and for people who want the whole story. They fail as ad destinations when the next step is three taps away, the form sits in Contact Us, and the hero is a slogan the ad never used.

On Malaysian mobile data the cost is higher. A heavy homepage slideshow spends the click on a spinner. Proof that lives below a long About block never meets the person who already decided to enquire.

What the Landing Page Must Do Instead

Match the promise. Show the proof beside the ask. Make WhatsApp or a short form obvious on a phone. Measure enquiry, not only sessions. If the URL will live past the campaign, titles and schema still belong in the HTML.

Google Ads should follow that page, not invent a second story. If the visitor needs six other pages to decide, you do not have a landing-page job. You have a site job.

When the Homepage Is Still the Right URL

Brand campaigns, people who typed your name, and visitors who need to compare services can start on Home. The mistake is using Home as the default for every ad group because it already exists.

A launch, a screening, a course date, or a single product line usually needs its own URL. We will say so in the first call. We do not sell a thinner homepage and call it a landing page.
